Missionary and Ministry Retreats

North Fork Mountain Inn wants to help support missionaries and people serving in ministries around the world. If you volunteer or serve in part time or full time Christian ministry, we will offer special discounted rates for staying with us.

Part of the premise for buying this peaceful, secluded, mountain getaway, was to provide a place where missionaries could come to relax and be refreshed. Ed and Carol Fischer have supported many missionaries and ministries around the world, and wanted to provide a relaxing environment to contemplate how God is working in their ministry and to be encouraged as they enjoy quality R & R in a beautiful mountain setting.

Ed and Carol enjoy leading short term mission trips. Usually in January, they close the Inn and travel to Nairobi, Kenya with teams that teach computer skills at Nairobi Evangelical Graduate School of Theology located in nearby Karen, Kenya. NEGST is a graduate school that offers a Masters and PhD program in Divinity. The purpose of this short term team is to offer training in basic computing and Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel. They also teach computer related classes in blogging, website development, and other tools that will likely be useful when they graduate. Ed & Carol have also been on three short term mission trips to Japan and two to Senegal, West Africa.

Enjoy Ed and Carol’s gift of hospitality as they serve you during your stay at the Inn. North Fork Mountain Inn is a perfect venue for ministry team retreats. Each morning begins with a gourmet breakfast. Gourmet picnic baskets are available along with casual dining 5 nights a week. Fine dining is available on Saturday evenings and is usually preceded by a wine tasting.

Activities to Refresh your Mind and Spirit

Whether you enjoy a good book from our library while you rock your troubles away on the front porch or just soak in the hot tub, you will find the tension in your life slowly drift away. Get back in touch with nature as you watch deer from the front porch or hike in the adjacent Monongahela National Forest.

Since we are located near the North Fork of the South Branch of the Potomac River, there is world-class fishing nearby.

You can also enjoy scenic drives as you tour the nearby Seneca Rocks and Dolly Sods National Wilderness area.

There are two caverns in the area which are open to tours with one featuring more of a “wild caving” experience.

You can enjoy skiing 1 and ½ hours away in nearby Canaan Valley at Timberline and Canaan Valley Ski Resort. Canaan Valley is also home to a National Wildlife Refuge.

You can enjoy one of West Virginia’s most scenic golf courses, at the Canaan Valley Resort.

Another popular attraction in this area is Blackwater Falls.

Let’s us pack a gourmet picnic lunch for you to enjoy as you travel through some of the most scenic byways of the Potomac Highlands.
